Where To Begin

If you’ve ended up here, there’s a good chance you’re already making music… or at least trying to. You start ideas but finishing and releasing them is where things stall.

I know what that feels like.

Everything here comes from my own experience over the years… starting tracks, abandoning them, coming back, repeating the same patterns and slowly figuring out what was actually getting in the way. It isn’t about learning more techniques or finding some elusive piece of gear that’s going to change everything. It’s understanding the process behind how you work.

The articles below are laid out in a way that build on each other, but you can take them in at your own pace.

After that, you can explore the rest however you like. There’s no one single path through this and a lot of it depends on where you’re at and what you need at the time.

The main thing that tends to matter isn’t doing more, it’s understanding how you work well enough to establish momentum and consistency.

If at any point you’d like to work through any of this more directly, coaching is an option. –
